Social promotion in Russia makes you better
Social advertizing is not new in former Soviet Union as it can seem. Even many years ago social promotion took significant place in everyday life. All Russian citizens who lived in Soviet times remember social posters and video spots where messages of responsibility were declared. The following mottos were so much popular: “Save the nature, it’s our mpther”, “Matches are not toys for boys” etc. All those social advertisments were sponsored by SU government and created by official institutions. At the moment everything has changed and we can find many various social advertising which is supported by official government, non-governmental organizations and private persons. Lots of money is spent every month on different social campaigns which are supported by Russian media campaigns with video spots, social posters, texts etc.
A great deal of international non-commercial companies work on the territory of Russia and lots of social advertisments from different countries are available now in Russian Federation. I am sure that it is really good as we have a unique opportunity to use best world experience in the sphere of social promotion as our own traditions in this sphere are very weak but we have a great deal of thoughts and creative people who can make all them true. That’s why various contests of social advertising are so popular nowadays in Russia and lots of professional promotion companies took an active part in such kind of competitions and if you enter tube sites you can look for lots of social spots created by the leading local organizations but usually the visualization of social problems leaves much to be desired. Still there are quite a lot of popular social movies on alcohol addiction and other issues. But of course, we should always keep in mind about the following situation in Russian Federation and the main difficulties which the government has to sort out. One of such problems is demographic decrease as too many people die in former Soviet Union and they know that they should force families to give more births. As an example of social promotion which concentrated on demographic issues we can mention social posters which were placed in Moscow subway with a woman with 3 children on her knees. This post gives more questions rather than gives answers as there is no guy on this poster and the woman looks disappointed.
I think that social advertizing in former Soviet Union just starts its way and in the nearest future we will see lots of great examples of television spots and social posters as well as complicated social campaigns.
